Barbara Ruel, Director, Women in Engineering & Diversity, has been appointed to serve a two year term on Women in Engineering Pro Active Network (WEPAN) Board of Directors as The Director of Membership. WEPAN's Board of Directors is charged with setting a strategic course and guiding WEPAN toward achieving its mission.

About WEPAN

WEPAN is the nations leading organization and catalyst for transforming culture in engineering education to promote the success of all women. Our focus is on improving the system of engineering education — by creating understanding of issues relevant to attracting and retaining female students, and by working to transform culture in engineering education to retain and graduate undergraduate women.

Over the last two years WEPAN has also received two NSF grants for two key projects and brought together stakeholders to catalyze change to the WEPAN National Conference and ASEE Annual Conference.

WEPAN's flagship event is the WEPAN National Conference. The conference is an important annual forum for ideas and a venue to foster conversations among women in engineering leaders, corporate advocates, researchers, academic leaders, and government officers to:

  • gain access to the most current research and statistics on women in engineering education
  • exchange best practices and program information on engineering education and institutional trasformation
  • nerwork and collaborate with WIE professional nationwide
